Series: Flow
Message: To The Rescue - Part 1

Message Summary:
For many of us, the tendency towards anxiety is rooted quite deeply in our souls - perhaps so deeply that we are no longer even aware of it.

And whatever may be the cause of our anxious thoughts, they most certainly affect us in ways that become destructive to us as individuals and destructive to our relationships.

021905 Flow: What Not To Wear

Series: Flow
Message: What Not To Wear

Message Summary:
Many times in the Bible, clothes are used as a metaphor for someone's character. We are told to "put on" good character, and conversely, to "put off" what is not worthy.

Sometimes in the Christian life, we get fuzzy about what we are to put on and put off. It is important to know what hinders the Holy Spirit so we can remove those blocks from our life.

One way to remember the top four barriers is with the acronym "R.A.G.S." The first barrier on that list is "resentment".

Many myths exist about anger, but what we truly need is the "renewing of the mind" - discarding the "rags" of our old ways - that comes from staying in the flow of the Spirit, saturating our minds with Scripture, and living in an attitude of joy and humility.

021205 Flow: Room By Room

Series: Flow
Message: Room By Room

Message Summary:
We all have certain patterns of thought, and they are far more powerful in determining our ultimate satisfaction than are our good or bad circumstances.

All of our thoughts have a kind of emotional "charge" - positive or negative. The sum of all those "charges" leads to either life or death.

Our natural tendency is for our minds to take us away from God, but God wants us to step into the flow of His Spirit and have our minds be renewed and redirected.

We need to put ourselves into situations where we can tune into the Spirit; yet, there is a wonderful mystery here because we cannot through effort alone change the way our minds work.

With God's help - as we open ourselves to grace, Scripture, self-examination, and community with others - God does the work in us that only He can do.

020505 Flow: Divine Design

Series: Flow
Message: Divine Design

Message Summary:
What if we don't have to try harder or run faster or get up earlier or rev up our emotions or pretend like everything is OK or keep hopping from one place to another?

What if God really is at work in every moment, in every place, in everyone?

To close the gap between our hopes and our actual experience, we fall prey to many spiritual traps. Sometimes we try harder. Sometimes we pretend things are better than they are. We make rededications, or change churches, or seek spiritual highs. After a while, we may even give up hope.

But if the Bible is true and God has provided for our thirst, there has to be water somewhere. A spiritual river ? a fountain of endless spiritual refreshment ? runs through life, according to Jesus. We must find that flow, and step into it. It is not something we can manufacture, but like ocean waves, God keeps sending us one opportunity after another.

In the coming weeks, this series will help us learn and experience how to tap into God?s power, drink deeply of His living water, and change from the inside out.
